Jack London Historic State Park, in partnership with the local events team at Mountain Travel Sobek, is proud to host a fundraising hike on Jan 27, 2018 to help fund a fuel reduction and defensible space program to mitigate extreme fire dangers. This is the perfect opportunity to return to Sonoma County and lend support for Sonoma Mountain and Jack London Park, which are among the most treasured gifts in the Sonoma Valley. It’s also a great way to meet like-minded hikers and find rejuvenation in the great outdoors! We will also be joined by some of the park staff at Jack London Park.
The group will meet at 10am at the Ranch parking lot of Jack London State Historic Park Lot and proceed up the trail, past the vineyards and Pig Palace and up through the woods to the lake which is a distance of about 1 mile. Those who’d like to go further can opt to join us for a more strenuous route from the lake to the top of Sonoma Mountain, (about 8 miles with a total elevation gain of 1,700) which affords beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Please bring plenty of water for your hike and some lunch if you would like to eat with us at some scenic stop on the mountain. We will bring some trail snacks and fruit.
Hike Registration: For this hike you can sign up directly on the Jack London Historic State Park website. Hike donation is $25 which includes park entrance and free parking.
