The theme of our May outing is "spring training" as we gear up for our summer adventures with a practice hike on the Tennessee Valley trail system in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. We'll start off the hike with a climb up to Coyote Ridge, from where we'll have the option of three loops: a quick 4-mile loop around the Fox Trail; a 7-mile classic loop that includes Pirate's Cove; and a thigh burning 9.5 mile route that also includes the Old Springs Trail, Wolf Ridge Trail, and the Coastal Trail. So join us for a hike in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area on May 20, 2017. See photos from the day!
Following our successful Bay Area community hikes, we’re heading out of town in March for a special 5.6-mile desert hike in Arizona's glorious McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This time we’re tackling the moderately challenging Tom’s Thumb Trail, looking out for wildflowers and a variety of desert critters. Overall, this exciting hike is a great way to get out on the trail with like-minded adventurers in Arizona, and give back to a great local conservation cause, the Audubon Society.
