A Follow the Leader Trip with John Yost
Montenegro’s gorgeous Tara River is truly a dazzling jewel among the many attractions of the former Yugoslavia. Its crystal-clear pristine waters course through one of the deepest and longest canyons in Europe, part of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Durmitor is blessed with incredible wildflowers, dense pine forests, sparkling lakes, and surrounded by two other beautiful river canyons. But the Tara is unquestionably the most dramatic and interesting, with breathtaking waterfalls, steep canyon walls, diverse vegetation, sandy beaches, and more than 80 large caves along the canyon. And the Class III/IV rapids are simply amazing! But this is much more than a river trip; along with exhilarating hikes in the peaks and valleys of Durmitor National Park, you’ll explore medieval walled villages with Venetian-style architecture, centuries-old Orthodox churches, and Dubrovnik, with its fine restaurants, music, museums, and more!
