NEPAL: Around Manaslu
Just Added!
The demanding trek around Manaslu (26,780'), eighth highest mountain in the world, is rewarding not only for its spectacular geographical features and panoramic mountain views, but for the diversity of unspoiled ethnic peoples who populate the extremely remote and little-visited valleys bordering its snowy flanks. Accompanied by veteran MTS mountain guide Sergio Fitch-Watkins, you’ll trek through long narrow river gorges with nearly-perpendicular walls and misty waterfalls and cross the main Himalayan range to enter the region of Nupri, where you’ll encounter descendants of Tibetan immigrants, whose speech, dress and customs are almost exclusively Tibetan. Sensational mountain views include Manaslu, Manaslu North, Naike Peak, Annapurna II (26,041'), and many other 7,000-meter peaks! Besides its extreme remoteness, this trek is more physically demanding than most in Nepal. The trails are rough and steep, with many overhangs high above the river, with prolonged climbing and descending of steep ridges to detour precipitous cliffs. If you’re looking for a challenging trek, this may just be the one!
