On this exciting "quick escape," you'll explore the best of Jasper and Banff National Parks, two stars of the Canadian Rockies park system and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's one of the largest protected areas of the world. This is arguably the most spectacular part of the Canadian Rockies, boasting glacier-covered mountains, verdant forests that are home to black bear and elk, foaming rivers, and emerald and turquoise lakes whose colors defy the imagination - the perfect backdrop for this world-class multi-activity adventure.

By day you'll take easy to moderate hikes up to rocky ridges and lush mountain meadows, don crampons for a glacier hike, and go horseback riding along lakes and riverside trails. You'll also spend an afternoon canoeing on Pyramid Lake (with a backdrop of fantastic mountain views), and enjoy an adrenaline rush while braving the rapids of the Kicking Horse River.

"Base camps" are comfy cabins and creekside chalets - one in Jasper, the other near Lake Louise - where you'll enjoy great hospitality and all the comforts of home.

Itinerary: Canadian Rockies

Day 1 - Meet in Banff, Alberta, and drive along the stunning Icefields Parkway to Jasper National Park, stopping along the way for a hike on the lower Athabasca Glacier, an outpouring of the huge Columbia Icefield.

Day 2 - Hike to Cavell Meadows, known for their profusion of wildflowers in the summer months and views of amazing hanging glaciers tumbling down from the mountains above.

Day 3 - Choose between a horseback ride featuring breathtaking views of the Athabasca River Valley and its turquoise lakes or a hike to Pyramid Bench. Afternoon canoe trip on Pyramid Lake.

Day 4 - On the way to Lake Louise, you'll stop for a hike at Parker Ridge and enjoy an afternoon tea at legendary mountain man Jimmy Simpson's historic Num-Ti-Jah Lodge.

Day 5 - All-day rafting trip on the Kicking Horse River. You'll spend the morning learning how to handle the paddles and work together as a team on easy Class II rapids. In the afternoon you'll test yourself on Class III and IV rapids - hang on and paddle!
