Hiking in Ireland
Explore the cultural, spiritual, and historical heart of Ireland while taking in great hikes on some of the country's noted long distance trails. From the colorful capital city of Dublin to the "singing pubs" of Killarney, from walks in the Wicklow Mountains to the famed Dingle Way and the Gap of Dunloe, you'll get an insider's look at the Emerald Isle's "must-see" spots, filled with the country's storied past. Visits to the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland's holiest sites, a stop to kiss the Blarney Stone (and receive the reputed "gift of gab"), and a trip out to the time-locked Aran Islands, where locals proudly foster the Gaelic language and traditions, round out our active discovery of "an emerald set in a ring of the sea."

Day 2 - Visit Powerscourt Gardens and hike through the Wicklow Mountains to the monastic ruins and pilgrimage site of Glendalough.

Day 3 - Tour Ireland's southern hills to the Rock of Cashel, where St. Patrick converted the pagan king of Leister to Christianity, and visit well-known Blarney Castle, Cork, and Killarney.

Day 4 - Hike the stunning Dunloe Gap trail, with a boat return across Killarney Lakes. Option of cycling from Killarney, through the Dunloe Gap, and around the lakes to return to Killarney.

Day 5 - Transfer to Dingle, where Ryan's Daughter was filmed in 1969. Afternoon to explore the nearby area with a local geologist and naturalist.
