 Itinerary: Tuscany & Cinque TerreDay 1 - Meet in Florence, Italy. Afternoon countryside hike and olive oil tasting, followed by a home-cooked Tuscan meal. Day 2 - Visit the church of San Miniato al Monte, with its sweeping views of the city, then drive to the Chianti region. From Greve in Chianti, the wine capital of the region, hike to the fattoria set among the vineyards, visiting Volpaia en route. Day 3 - Transfer to the beautiful medieval town of Gaiole in Chianti and hike to Badia a Coltibuono, a Vallombrosian Abbey transformed into a spectacular “wine resort.” After visiting the complex, head back to Volpaia for a tasting of Chianti wines. Day 4 - Tour Siena, traditional archrival of Florence; explore the ancient walled fortress of Monteriggioni, mentioned by Dante in The Inferno. Day 5 - Drive to Colle Val d'Elsa, known for its glass and crystal arts, then hike to picturesque San Gimignano, a small romantic old town with several tall towers remaining from medieval times. Day 6 - Transfer to Levanto in Cinque Terre, visiting the world-famous marble quarries of Carrara en route. Days 7-8 - Day hikes along the coast to all five Cinque Terre villages, passing through forests, groves of olives and lemons, stepped vineyards, and old hilltop farmhouses. Day 9 - Transfer to Pisa (or Florence, if preferred) and depart.
