Kilimanjaro: Trekking to the Roof of Africa

Crowned by eternal snows, Kilimanjaro is a commanding presence, a lone sentinel standing guard over the plains of Africa. To climb its slopes and stand on the “roof of Africa” is a lifelong dream of most every adventurer. We offer you two ways of climbing Kilimanjaro: from the Kenya side on “Kilimanjaro Wildlife,” and from the Tanzania side on “Climb Kilimanjaro.” Both itineraries combine a superb mountaineering experience on one of the world’s famed “seven summits” with great wildlife viewing on a classic African safari.

And there’s no substitute for experience. We’ve been trekking Kilimanjaro since 1974 and were the first to pioneer commercial treks there. Our experienced local guides know Kilimanjaro like their own backyard and are well versed in natural history, environmental conservation, and wildlife. On a Mountain Travel Sobek climb, your safety and comfort are paramount. While you concentrate on climbing Kilimanjaro, porters will carry all the gear (leaving you to carry just a day pack). On both the Kenya and Tanzania safaris we use vehicles designed for optimum wildlife viewing (everyone has a window seat!). And lest we forget to mention it, the food is beyond delicious (including fine handpicked wines)!
