Day 1: Welcome to Cairns, Australia

Touch down in Cairns - your gateway to the beautiful Land Down Under. Mountain Travel Sobek representativewill be on hand to welcome you. After collecting your bags you'll transfer to your hotel. This afternoon there will be time to explore the beaches in the region while getting to know your group and guides. Enjoy an Aussie welcome feast for dinner.

Day 2: The Great Barrier Reef

Sail out to the magical Great Barrier Reef for a day of snorkeling. Home to the earth’s largest concentration of coral and some 1,500 fish species, the reef offers an incredible underwater experience.

Snorkel at two different sites during the day, giving you ample opportunity to snorkel along rainbow-colored corals and spot all manner of marine life, from vibrant tropical fish to loggerhead turtles. With the world's largest reef system as your playground, there's no telling what you may see. With marine biologists onboard to teach you about the reef system and put this incredible ecosystem in a global context, this will be an experience you'll never forget.

Enjoy the evening on your own to relax or explore the many dinning options available Cairns.

Day 3: Mossman Gorge and Australia Wildlife

After arriving at Mossman Gorge in the morning, you will be treated to a guided rainforest walk along private, easy graded tracks, visiting special places and culturally significant sites, past traditional bark shelters and over cool rainforest streams. Your experienced interpretive Indigenous guides demonstrate traditional plant use, identify bush tucker sources, share their dreamtime legends, explain the history of cave paintings and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationships within this unique tropical environment.

Then visit a crocodile farm to learn about Australia’s enormous crocodiles, and get close to some cuddly native animals at a wildlife park. We’ll then continue farther up the coast, cross the Daintree River (watch out for crocs!), and make our way into the Daintree Rainforest. Here you will find a veritable paradise of pristine white-sand beaches and incredible rainforest that grows right down to the sea. In the evening, lie on the beach and search the night sky for the Southern Cross – a great end to an awesome day!

Day 4: Sea Kayaking

Wake early this morning for a sunrise sea kayak around the coast. A truly breathtaking experience, you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time, millions of years ago, to when Australia separated from Gondwana and the rainforest from this ancient landmass was divided.

The Daintree, which was part of that rainforest, continues to thrive here in Australia, and today you'll visit a number of sites within this oldest rainforest on earth.?As you head further north up the Cape, keep an eye out for the cassowaries, a large (and sometimes agresssive!) rainforest bird, and keep your camera handy as you look for crocs in the rivers!

Day 5: Cairns to Alice Springs

After a morning on the beach, make our way back towards Cairns. Explore the city of Cairns one last time, before catching our flight to Alice Springs, the center of Australia.

Surrounded by a red sand desert which stretches for hundreds of miles in all directions, Alice Springs is one of Australia’s most famous outback towns. It is the gateway to the iconic natural features of Ulu?u (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tju?a National Park.

On arrival into Alice Springs you will be transferred to the hotel before a lovely outback dinner.

Day 6: Kings Canyon Hiking

The Red Centre is famous for its red sand and stunning Outback landscapes. After an exploration of the famous Outback township of Alice Springs, make your way through a land that has been looked after by Aboriginal Australians for more than 60,000 years. Driving through the desert, keep an eye out for wild camels as you approach Kings Canyon.

Take a walk around the rim of Kings Canyon, a truly magnificent part of Australia. On your way around the canyon, pass the tropical pools of the Garden of Eden and the beehive rock formations called the Lost City. Be sure to stop and take in the scenery - Outback views don't get much better than this! Tonight, stay in safari tents on a cattle ranch, where they also catch and export wild camels!

Day 7: Uluru

Continue through the desert to Uluru (Ayer's Rock). After checking into the hotel, head out to see the cultural center and walk around the base of Uluru - which spans nearly six miles! Marvel at Uluru, knowing that you’re witnessing one of the world’s largest monoliths. At sunset, watch The Rock change color and as the daylight disappears, the brightness of the Outback night skies will be a sight you'll never forget.

Day 8: Sunrise Camel Ride and Kata Tjuta

This morning is an opportunity for the adventurous to see the sunrise bring the desert to life while riding a camel (optional)! With Uluru as your backdrop, this is an experience that is definitely recommended.

Your guides will then take you out to Kata Tjuta to see the spectacular dome. Take a walk through the Valley of the Winds, passing through spectacular rock domes. Sunset here can be as equally impressive as Uluru itself.

Day 9: Fly to Sydney

In the morning fly southeast to Sydney. Upon arrival into Sydney, transfer to the hotel.

Sydney is continually voted one of the world's top 10 most livable cities and you'll soon discover what makes it so special. There will also be the option of climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge! One of only three bridge climbs in the world, this adventure is sure to get your adrenaline pumping and will show you Sydney from a unique perspective.

Tonight you can explore the many different cuisine options that Sydney has to offer on your own.

Day 10: Sights and Sounds of Sydney

Today will be spent exploring Australia's most famous city. Head out to see the sights of spectacular Sydney Harbour, walk through the famous Rocks District, admire the bridge, and ponder the Opera House. Then cruise through the harbor to the seaside suburb of Manly and experience Darling Harbour and Chinatown.

And if there's any time left, head over to famous Bondi Beach, hang out with some Aussie surf lifeguards, and finish the trip by checking out a few fun and trendy neighborhoods in this stunning city before enjoying a celebratory farewell meal this evening.

Morning transfer to the Sydney International Airport to board your homeward-bound flights.

DAILY itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Cairns, Australia

Touch down in Cairns - your gateway to the beautiful Land Down Under. Mountain Travel Sobek representativewill be on hand to welcome you. After collecting your bags you'll transfer to your hotel.
