ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

Travel Agent Channel

Mountain Travel Sobek

The primary function of this Account Executive (AE) position is to develop the travel agency (TA) community as a robust distribution channel for MTS.

A secondary objective is to identify opportunities in the Group business (pre-formed, established, affinity groups; associations, etc.). The initial Group objective is to learn the market and identify opportunities in the Group channel.

The AE will develop and close TA business, primarily independent, custom travel, supported by the Mountain Travel Program Directors who will build and manage the trips. The AE is the liaison between the TAs/Groups and Program Directors, and as such, is responsible for coordinating, overseeing and ensuring effective interaction between the MTS team and the TA/Group clients (including pre and post-sale). The position reports directly to the President and CEO.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. Relevant sales and business development experience, preferably calling on travel agents in the major U.S. markets.
  2. Familiarity with adventure travel as it relates to the travel agent channel and to Mountain Travel’s trips in particular.
  3. Personal presence, strength of personality, service instincts and relationship skills to serve and coordinate external travel agents and internal Program Directors.

Requirements of the position include:

  1. Ability to develop and manage profitable long term relationships with leading travel designers and Groups.
  2. Work with clients/families on specialized adventure travel programs. Will have a strong interface with the Program Directors.
  3. Ability to develop, maintain and grow the MTS travel agent data base and have strong administrative skills.
  4. Train travel agents on MTS products and their unique aspects.
  5. Travel roughly 6 – 8 times a year to major travel agent road shows, and an estimated one travel agent familiarization trip per year.
  6. Act as senior account executive managing and directing all TA inquiries to the proper department within MTS, including tracking of follow up, sale closure, and after sale follow up—all the operational aspects of the TA sale process.
  7. Serve as liaison with agency representation firm, Bennett|Mercado, to ensure that the most is made of their services and that they have the MTS resources that they need.
  8. Superb communications and presentations skills.
  9. Run the Advisory Council—solicit insights and feedback, conduct meetings, identify candidates.
  10. Execute appropriate communications—ranging from selected promotions to periodic newsletter, e.g.
  11. Develop, maintain and update T&C’s, policies, etc.
  12. Affinity for adventure travel

Manager, Growth Marketing and Ecommerce Site Management

Mountain Travel Sobek

Mountain Travel Sobek is looking for an interim, part-time Manager of Growth Marketing, including ecommerce site management, with the emphasis on online analytics. This position could turn into permanent, full time. This critical role collaborates with product and sales teams to analyze and identify sales and market opportunities, works closely with other marketing functions (print, content, production) and drives go-to-market strategies that create measureable value.

The right person should be a data driven marketer with particular strength in growth marketing with experience in managing multiple marketing channels. In this role, the person must also be comfortable with identifying and optimizing growth opportunities across the marketing funnel to drive supply growth, engagement, and retention. The ideal candidate should be technical, highly analytical, experienced with setting up partners and tracking, and willing to get their hands dirty.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly come up to speed on Mountain Travel Sobek’s travel business and its structure and leverage points.
  • Build, optimize and scale effective marketing campaigns to drive growth across digital marketing channels including email, SEO, SEM, display and social.
  • Manage performance metrics and budget tracking to scale intelligently acquisition efforts. This includes daily/weekly/monthly tracking and optimization, ranging from a few minutes per day to a couple hours once or twice a week.
  • Prepare and present recommendations, reports and key data points to internal stakeholders.
  • Create and execute the go-to-market plans for both existing product and new product launches.
  • Manage the eCommerce website and blog, including maintenance, enhancements, and all aspects of the online business; including interface with the IT department and reservation system.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate could currently be an independent contractor or an agency.
  • Proven results in driving cost effective revenue growth across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and pattern recognition skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and tools such as Moz.
  • Expertise in email campaign management including deliverability, optimization, and automation.
  • Highly proficient in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas etc.)
  • Self-starter, learns quickly, prioritizes effectively and delivers results in a fluid, global context.
