What is the class of sleeping accommodations on MT Sobek trips?
Many of our classic trips stay in hotels and lodges with delightful ambiance and local character. Your clients might stay in an eco-lodge in the heart of the Amazon, a charming farmhouse, or a 4-to 5-star hotel. Our small boat cruises allow us to explore shorelines and coves the big boats can’t access, typically with a maximum of 12 to 24 guests, in comfortable cabins with window views.
What if my clients have never camped before?
If this is your clients’ first time camping on an MT Sobek trip, they may be pleasantly surprised. Many of our African safaris offer elegant, spacious tents complete with beds, fine linens, and private, en suite bathrooms. For our backcountry camping trips, we provide nearly all the gear: roomy backpacking tents, sleeping pads, communal dining areas, solar or bucket showers, and even toilet tents. When in the backcountry, the guides will set up camp and prepare all meals. As part of the camping experience, all guests pitch in with basic camp chores.
Can my clients upgrade or change accommodations?
Our accommodations have been carefully selected for both their comfort and convenience to each day’s planned activities. On our group trips, it is not possible for your clients to upgrade or change lodging. However, our private and custom trips can be planned to suit your clients’ accommodation preferences. Please speak with your Regional Specialist to discover the options for your clients’ trip.
How should I ensure I am booking the right clients on the right active adventure?
The Regional Specialist handling your booking will work with you to discuss the entire trip experience and collect the appropriate fitness information. They may provide specific questions for you to ask your clients and report back. In some cases, the Regional Specialist may ask to speak directly with the client to help assess whether this is the adventure they are looking for.
When will I receive my client’s pre travel documents for their trip?
Once your clients have booked, they will receive detailed pre-trip information including packing lists, suggested reading, advice on getting in shape, and much more. The final departure information is provided to all guests approximately 3 weeks prior to departure, including details about their adventure guide and emergency contact for all accommodations.
Can I book pre- and post-trip extension for my clients with MT Sobek?
Once your clients’ trip has confirmed to go, they are welcome to book their flights as well as any pre-or-post trip extensions. Some of our trips offers suggested extensions that are the perfect way for travelers to further explore the destination. Please contact your Adventure Coordinator for further information on options and activities specific to your clients’ trip.

What is the minimum number of guests for a private FIT or private group adventure?
MT Sobek specializes in custom itineraries to almost every destination that we travel to. We do not require a minimum guest count to create a custom trip. However, we do require that an MT Sobek adventure guide accompany every group. At this time we do not offer self-guided tours.
What happens if the clients I am working with book with MT Sobek directly?
We understand that sometimes guests book with us directly but would prefer the service and convenience of working with a travel advisor. Your clients may contact us within 14 days of making their reservation to request that their preferred travel advisor take over the booking.
How does MT Sobek work with other tour operators?
MT Sobek is proud to be the preferred adventure travel outfitter for National Geographic Active Expeditions, Times Journeys, and Smithsonian Active Journeys. Each operation has its own terms and conditions, but all welcome working with Travel Advisors. For specific information on reserving one of these trips for your clients, please contact one of our knowledgeable Regional Specialists or our National Sales Manager, Aimee Graham.
