The poles are the last two bastions of raw wilderness—massive, icy horizons painted in electric blue. Scarcely habitable by humans, yet teeming with unusual wildlife, this is as remote as Earth gets. Since 1989, when an MT Sobek group included the first Americans to reach the South Pole via ski expedition, we’ve distinguished our polar adventure tours through unique itineraries and our partnerships with the regions’ best operators. Polar Latitudes recruits the world’s leading scientists, naturalists, and environmentalists. Antarctica21 created the unique plane-and-expedition ship travel option. Experience remote, rugged, and untouched landscapes in the company of experts.
Polar Cruising
We choose to cruise aboard small, highly navigable ice-strengthened vessels (not behemoth cruise ships), enabling us to easily navigate glacier-filled fjords, and hop into Zodiacs and kayaks for up-close wildlife encounters ashore. In order to offer the widest selection of travel dates and flexibility for our guests, MT Sobek works directly with the ship owners to book MT Sobek travelers on scheduled departures throughout the year.
Our Polar Promise
We are pleased to offer our in-house expertise and services to assist you every step of the way at no extra added cost. This means that you’ll get the assistance of a knowledgeable Polar Trip Consultant to help you choose the right adventure for you! From bucket-list explorations in Antarctica to the icy realms of polar bears and narwhals, we can bring your adventure dreams to life.
Expert Guides
Our polar adventures are led by specially trained expert guides who will take you on an immersive, insider adventure. Whether you cruising through Canada’s Northwest Passage, around the Svalbard Archipelago, or crossing the Weddell Sea, you will hear insightful lectures from naturalists and disembark for guided shore excursions that add perspective and safe encounters with wildlife.

Adventures in polar regions are among the most exciting on the planet and our goal is to make it easy to find the perfect itinerary for your skill level. Here’s a handy guide from our trusted team of adventure experts.
Choose Your Adventure
Our polar cruises are generally easy Level 1 & 2 adventures between 8 and 14 days in length. In Antarctica, people most often choose the Fly & Cruise tour, which skips the Drake Passage crossing. Our Arctic adventures cover Norway, Canada and part of northwest Greenland.
Choose Your Style
All of our polar adventures are aboard small and comfortable ice-strengthened vessels, operated by either Polar Latitudes or Antarctica 21. Call us on 800-974-0300 to find out more about these epic polar adventures.
Choose Your Dates
We craft our charters around the best each polar season has to offer. In winter, visit Antarctica during its austral summer, the breeding season for penguins, sea birds, seals, and whales. In summer, head to the Arctic—land of the midnight sun—to seek polar bears, reindeer, walruses, and narwhals.
