Our Commitment to You

In addition to keeping you informed of our health and safety protocols, we are committed to keeping up-to-date on CDC requirements. We are also committed to traveling in small groups—the original travel pod.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

Like the rest of the world, our response to COVID-19 is an ongoing evolution, and our protocol is subject to change as the situation changes. We will modify as needed but always do so with caution and careful consideration. We will do our best to keep you informed of any updates as they are made.

Starting on Jan 1, 2023, MT Sobek will no longer require guests to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. This decision comes as countries across the globe continue to relax their entry requirements.

We will follow the local protocols of the countries we visit. Please note that your destination may have additional entry requirements at the time of travel, so we recommend checking with the embassy periodically for the latest updates. Your Adventure Coordinator will provide updates when they send your final details email about 3-4 weeks before departure.

For your safety, we strongly encourage our guests to be fully vaccinated and always purchase travel protection.

Our COVID-19 policies are subject to change and will be updated as new information becomes available.

Keeping You Informed

MT Sobek’s response to COVID-19 is subject to change in accordance with the recommendations and requirements of the CDC, U.S. and international government agencies.

We frequently update resources like our Re-openings and Requirements page but please contact your Adventure Coordinator or visit the CDC or US Embassy pages for the most current information.

Guests on our scheduled trips departing in 2022 are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

We will not require proof of vaccination from our guides for trips departing in 2023. We strongly encourage guides and other staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

We will not require proof of vaccination from our guides for trips departing in 2023. We strongly encourage guides and other staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

What if someone has symptoms on trip?

If someone experiences symptoms on trip, they are asked to let the Adventure Guides know immediately. The Adventure Guides will ask the symptomatic person to isolate from the group and help facilitate a COVID-19 test. If the test is negative, no further action will be taken.

What if someone tests positive for COVID-19 on trip?

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 and is symptomatic will be asked to wear a mask and immediately isolate from the group. We will follow local protocols for quarantine, and COVID positive guests may not participate in group activities, group transportation, or group meals until they test negative.

If I’m quarantined during or after the trip, who will pay for my accommodations?

Additional services required for quarantining during or after the trip, including accommodations, meals, transfers, medical care and COVID-19 testing, are at the expense of the traveler. We recommend that you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance package prior to your trip that includes quarantine coverage.

What if the country’s entry policy changes after final payment?

By placing a deposit and/or final payment on this departure you agree to our full Terms & Conditions and understand that if MT Sobek must cancel or postpone a trip due to force majeure (war, labor strikes, wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, epidemic, a major world event adversely affecting international travel patterns, etc.), MT Sobek may provide a future travel credit or in some cases, refund the portion of the trip cost that is recoverable after using good faith efforts to recover payments already advanced to suppliers (hotels, transportation companies, etc.)

MT Sobek does not guarantee recovery of any or all of the advance payments made, and our use of good faith efforts to recover these payments will not include the institution of any legal proceedings in foreign jurisdictions.

MT Sobek is not responsible for expenses incurred by trip members in preparing for a canceled or postponed trip (e.g., non-refundable purchase of air tickets, visa fees, inoculations, equipment, etc.) or for any additional arrangements should the trip member depart prior to the scheduled group departure date.
