Should Mountain Travel (MT Sobek) choose to use a photo in a print publication, DVD, video, email or on our website (excluding the voting page and our social media), the “Photographer” will be credited and MT Sobek retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time.

Contest winners are chosen annually. Submissions for the 2024 contest are due by December 31, 2024. Winners will be notified by February 28, 2025. Submissions arriving after December 31, 2024, will automatically be entered in the 2024 contest. There are three Grand Prize winners for our photo contest: 1st place wins $1,000 in trip credit, 2nd place wins $500 in trip credit, 3rd place wins $250 in trip credit. Trip credit is automatically applied to the winner’s account and is redeemable immediately. Trip credit is applicable to any future MT Sobek trip, with the exception of Polar, Cruise and Private trips and expires within two years of issue. MT Sobek retains the right to use any photo submitted at any time in the future. Once the Photographer is compensated for a winning photo, MT Sobek retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time, for no additional payment.

Photographic submissions must be in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format. Please provide only the original, unmodified digital camera image. Submissions will not be returned. MT Sobek will consider no submission that it identifies as obscene, provocative or otherwise containing objectionable content, nor will we consider submissions from employees of MT Sobek or their families.

By submitting a photo for consideration, you warrant and represent that the photo you submit (the “Submission”) is your own original work, that you alone own copyright to the Submission, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Submission. You grant to MT Sobek and its licensees a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to display, distribute and reproduce the Submission, in whole or in part, in any medium now existing or subsequently developed for editorial purposes without further review or participation from you. You attest that the Submission was taken on a MT Sobek trip. In the event recognizable people other than MT Sobek guests appear in the Submission, you warrant that you have permission from the model or models, authorizing publication of the Submission. If you are selected as a finalist, you also grant MT Sobek the right to use your name on the MT Sobek website, in emails and print publications.

MT Sobek retains full editorial control over the selection of, and the decision not to select, any particular Submission for publication.
