Latin America

It's hard to imagine a time when Patagonia and Machu Picchu were only explored through history books, but not long ago this was the case. In fact, during our 40 years of traveling to Latin America, MTS became the first U.S. company to lead adventures to Patagonia, pioneer the first circuit trek in Peru's Cordillera Blanca, and offer sailing voyages in the Galápagos Islands.

Award-winning Trips. Trek to Machu Picchu on our Andean adventure selected by National Geographic Traveler as 50 Tours of a Lifetime; explore the spectacular glaciers of Patagonia on our hiking adventures; or cruise with us to the Galápagos, as featured in The New York Times and USA Today.

Pioneers in Latin America Travel. Besides becoming the first US company to introduce visitors to Patagonia, MTS led the first ever commercial climb of Aconcagua—the tallest mountain in the Americas—in 1972, and the first rafting descents of Chile's Bio-Bio & Baker Rivers in 1978 and 1992, respectively.

Local Office, Local Guides. Over our 40 years of exploring South America, MTS has become part of the local community with offices in both Chile and the Galápagos. Our guides are natural leaders and accomplished climbers who have worked with us for decades—plus most are true locals born in South America.

Choice Accommodations. After an inspiring day of hiking and touring, recount your tales and recharge with a gourmet feast. Then, slumber in a range of accommodations that match your chosen adventure – from luxury lodges to nicely-appointed camping (preassembled for you!).

Mix & Match Trips to See it All. If this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit South America, go big! We have lots of extension trip options to add to your primary adventure. If you're trekking to Machu Picchu, why not also visit the Amazon rainforest and the Galápagos Islands? We can put together a customer itinerary, so you can really see it all.
