Position: Lead Development Representative
Reporting to: Director of Sales & Guest Services
Location: Emeryville, CA (Remote or Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Pacific Time
About the Role
The Lead Development Representative (LDR) is the first point of contact for new inquiries—setting the tone, responding quickly, and capturing interest in the moments that matter most. This role is responsible for Speed-to-Lead: intercepting web inquiries as they arrive, qualifying traveler needs, and ensuring a seamless handoff to Trip Consultants.
While high-intent inquiries may route directly to the sales team, the LDR focuses on engaging and converting early-stage or lower-intent leads into high-quality, sales-ready opportunities. You will bridge the gap between initial curiosity and a booked adventure by ensuring every inquiry is thoughtfully qualified, nurtured, and transitioned to our expert Trip Consultants.
Key Responsibilites
• Lead Interception & First Response: Monitor web inquiries and the shared inbox, responding quickly with warm, professional, on-brand communication
• Qualification & Routing: Understand traveler goals, timelines, and experience levels; determine fit across Scheduled, Private, or Custom adventures and route accordingly
• Lead Nurturing: Engage early-stage or lower-intent inquiries with thoughtful follow-up to build interest and move them toward sales readiness
• CRM & Pipeline Support: Maintain accurate lead data in HubSpot, use sequences for follow-up, and ensure clean handoffs to Trip Consultants
• Database Re-engagement: Follow up with past inquiries and dormant leads to re-spark interest in MT Sobek trips
• Web Booking Verification: Serve as the first human touchpoint for new web bookings, confirming guest understanding of trip requirements, physical readiness, timelines, and policies
• General Sales Support: Assist with overflow calls and inbound inquiries to support a high-touch guest experience
Qualifications
• 1–2 years of experience in sales support, hospitality, customer service, or a CRM-driven role
• Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM tools (shared inbox, basic workflows, sequences) preferred
• Proven ability to manage high-volume inquiries or customer interactions
• Interest in adventure travel; hiking or trekking experience is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, performance-driven environments
Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• High emotional intelligence (EQ); able to read customer intent and build rapport quickly
• Excellent attention to detail, especially in data entry and lead handoff
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage multiple conversations simultaneously
• Proactive mindset with a focus on speed-to-lead and conversion outcomes
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally
• Coachable, adaptable, and quick to learn new tools and processes
Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus opportunities tied to individual, team performance and guest satisfaction.
