Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia with its legendary rock-hewn churches, the scene of a multitude of major religious ceremonies. They became Ethiopia\'s first listed UNESCO site in 1978 and are connected to each other by a tangled maze of tunnels and passages.
