FAQs

Who will meet me at the airport?

After picking up your self-secured rental car in Salt Lake City, Utah or Grand Junction, Colorado, you'll be provided with everything you need to set off on your road trip through Utah's Mighty Five. Prefer to leave the driving to someone else? Ask us about designing a trip with a through guide.

What are the best months to visit Utah's national parks?
Spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) see fewer crowds, milder temperatures, and clear skies, making them ideal for hiking and clear views. Summer (June-August) is the most popular time but also the hottest. Winter (November-March) is a quiet time with the right conditions for snowshoeing.
What wildlife am I likely to see in Southwest national parks?
Utah's parks are home to wildlife such as mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, coyotes, jackrabbits, and countless lizards, along with raptors like golden eagles and red-tailed hawks. In more remote or wooded areas, visitors may also spot foxes, bobcats, and occasionally mountain lions, while cooler seasons bring a better chance of seeing desert bighorn sheep on open slopes.
What if our group has differing interests or skill levels?
Your trip is tailor-made for your group. We can arrange to have multiple options, so some of your group can go hiking, while others check out the spa, or even have two different hikes—one challenging and one easy.
What do I need to bring for the Zion Narrows hike and Colorado River float?

MT Sobek provides footwear, neoprene socks, hiking poles, and a dry day pack. Depending on water levels, some or most of the hiking will be through water. Your guides will let you know what current conditions are expected to be and whether shorts are a good choice.

How should I train for hiking in Utah's Mighty Five?
The best training is hiking. Work up to hiking similar distances with your daypack loaded with the same weight you will be carrying on your day hikes.
What is the minimum age for this trip?
We can host guests from 0-100+. However, we believe that the age of 6 is an ideal minimum age.
