Day 2
Combine kayaking and Tetons hiking today, starting with a morning paddle in full view of the wild shoreline and glacier-topped peaks in the distance. Reaching the Leigh Lake Trailhead, you'll beach your kayak and begin your hike. Along the trail, your expert MT Sobek guides will point out trees scarred by bears scratching and rubbing against them. Pause for lunch at beautiful Leigh Lake, where sweeping views of the Teton Range make a perfect backdrop. If you're up for it, take a swim in the refreshing lake water! After lunch, continue your hike to tranquil Trapper Lake before making your way back to the kayaks. Return to camp and venture out by paddle board or further explore Grassy Island before enjoying dinner and sharing stories around the campfire.
After a hot breakfast, work together as a team to pack up camp, then set off for the paddle or hike to Moran Creek where you'll begin a scenic trek in Moran Canyon. Pause to take in the dramatic vistas of Jackson Lake and the vast valley beyond. Following a short paddle, eat lunch near the mouth of Bear Paw Bay, then continue paddling to your next campsite at Spalding Bay. From here, you'll get striking views of the Teton Range, including Grand Teton and the Cathedral Group. Once the kayaks are unloaded and tents set up, take time to explore the area on foot or by paddle board. Enjoy your final night, watching the sunset, stargazing, and toasting new friendships, the beauty of national parks, and the excitement of tomorrow's final adventure on the Snake River.
In the morning, load up and paddle to your original launching point, then transfer to your rafting location. Hop into six-person rafts and embark on a picturesque float down the Snake River as your guides share natural and historical facts about the region. Each turn of the river provides a new perspective of the Cathedral Group and calls to mind Ansel Adams' iconic photos. The waters are gentle, providing ample opportunities to spot wildlife.
