All are certified by the Galapagos National Park Service, hold degrees in the biological sciences, are fluent in English, and have 20+ years guiding experience. They are gifted experts and educators who create fun days filled with opportunities to see, learn, explore, and question. Their passion for the Galapagos is surpassed only by their desire to ensure you have the finest possible experience on your trip of a lifetime.
Luis was born in Seville, Spain, and has a degree in Environmental Biology and a master’s in Geographic Ecology. He has guided in the Galapagos since 1999 and enthusiastically shares his knowledge of the Galapagos with fellow nature lovers of all ages. Luis is fluent in Spanish, English, and French and is also a professional nature photographer. He is active in island conservation and works tirelessly to promote the preservation of endemic wildlife. His appreciation of every wildlife wonder in the Galapagos has endeared MT Sobek guests to him for 20 years! Luis lives in Quito with his wife, twin sons, and daughter.
Greg arrived in the Galapagos in 1982, leading the Cambridge Darwin Centenary Galapagos Expedition to conduct research on the feeding ecology of marine iguanas. After graduating from the University of London, with an honors degree in Biology, Greg's research in Galapagos has encompassed a wide range of ecological projects, including studies on sperm whales and the endangered Galapagos petrel. Greg and his wife have retraced Darwin's footsteps through Galapagos using information from his original notebooks and manuscripts of the famous voyage. Greg brings an unmatched depth of knowledge to his guiding skills and is much loved by all who travel with him.
Patricia has been guiding adventures in Galapagos since 1999 and is a treasure-trove of knowledge on the underwater world and on island botany. A native of Switzerland and originally a journalist for the Swiss News Agency, Patricia started her career in guiding as a divemaster in Honduras in 1995 and as a naturalist guide in Costa Rica. She is fascinated by wildlife, is a passionate teacher, and an active conservationist in the islands. As a resident of Galapagos, she will be able to give you an insider's viewpoint of life in the islands. Patricia is fluent in English, German, and French.
Fernando is an Ecuadorian marine biologist who has worked and lived in Galapagos for over 25 years. An accomplished diver, he has more than 5,000 dives in the Galapagos, Ecuador, Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Baja California, Palau, Malaysia, Caño Island in Costa Rica. He joined Conservation International in 2005 after working for the Galapagos National Park as Head of the Department of Control and Conservation of Marine Ecosystems. After a few years working in different government institutions and NGOs, Fernando returned to guiding to re-encounter the environment he is so passionate about.
