FAQs
Do I need a visa to visit Ghana, Togo, and Benin?
Yes, guests on this itinerary will need to acquire single entry visas for Ghana and Benin. A multiple entry visa is required to enter Togo. We advise guests to purchase a visa on arrival in Ghana and apply via online portals for Benin and Togo visas.
What vaccinations are required for this adventure?
Vaccination against Yellow Fever is compulsory to participate on this trip. We advise you to consult with www.cdc.gov and speak with a doctor regarding malaria prophylaxis and other vaccinations.
What are the road conditions like in West Africa?
We travel by minibuses with guaranteed window seats for each guest. Travel is over some remote rugged roads and tracks. There are some unavoidable long travel days with frequent stops for rustic outdoor bathroom breaks and picnic lunches.
What can I expect from the accommodations?
MT Sobek always strives to provide the best available safe, clean, and comfortable accommodation on our adventures. Outside of the big cities, hotels and guest houses in this region are quite simple and basic. Local conditions make air conditioning, fans, and electricity sporadic. A flexible attitude toward accommodation will go a long way!
Is WiFi available on this adventure?
Please note that WiFi is rather unreliable at most accommodations with a weak or intermittent signal in public lobby spaces only. For those who prefer connectivity throughout their adventure, it is sometimes possible to purchase a local SIM card for your phone. There are limitations with purchasing these cards so know that you might literally be 'off the grid' for long stretches of time on this trip.
What is the minimum age for this trip?
The standard minimum age for this trip is 18, but check out our private trip options for families and groups with younger guests.
