Galapagos Islands | Travel & Adventures
For eons, the Galápagos Islands were untouched by humanity, letting Mother Nature’s imagination run wild with such magical creatures as the giant Galápagos tortoise, the flightless cormorant, the blue-footed booby, the marine iguana, the winged albatross and playful sea lions in splendid isolation. Charles Darwin’s discovery of the Enchanted Isles in the 19th century was the basis for his opus, The Origin of Species, opening the doors for others to discover this exotic and otherworldly paradise.
Six hundred miles off the coast of Ecuador, the Galápagos National Park has become highly protected land to be enjoyed by responsible travelers all year long. Mountain Travel Sobek was the first North American company to bring visitors to the islands with an inaugural charter for the Sierra Club in 1970. Over more than four decades, we have forged long-term relationships with the park, the top expert guides (all engaged, knowledgeable, and certified Galápagos National Park Class III Naturalists), and the local community—relationships we cemented by opening in office in Quito, Ecuador to best serve our respected clientele.
