What you need to get in and back

Most Recent Update – 17 January 2022

We understand that the decision to travel is a personal one. Ultimately, what matters most is that you feel comfortable. We have protocols in place for all of our trips and are proud to report there have been no known cases of COVID transmission on any MT Sobek trip.

On April 19, 2021, the US State Department announced that it would begin to update its travel advisories to more closely align with those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Per the CDC, “This does not imply a reassessment of the current health situation in a given country, but rather reflects an adjustment in the State Department’s Travel Advisory system to rely more on CDC’s existing epidemiological assessments.” This has resulted on over 80% of countries being placed at “Level 4: Do Not Travel.”

Neither a State Department Level 4 Travel Advisory nor a CDC Travel Health Notice prohibits Americans from traveling to a particular destination. MT Sobek has successfully operated trips in many of the countries now at Level 4 without issue including Ecuador, Egypt, Costa Rica, Mexico, Turkey and Uganda. We will continue to build on what we’ve already learned as the world continues to reopen, allowing us to responsibly operate trips in more and more places across the globe. We encourage all those who are eligible to get vaccinated against Covid-19 regardless of entry requirements.
