  • Day01

    Arrive in Las Vegas

Welcome to Las Vegas! Upon arrival in Las Vegas, take a complimentary shuttle transfer to the hotel. Meet up with the group for orientation and a welcome dinner at 6pm.

  • Day02

Hoover Dam & The Grand Canyon

After breakfast, meet your MT Sobek trip leader in the lobby at 8am and depart for the Hoover Dam. The Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression. Following our visit to the Hoover Dam, we continue 4 hours to the Grand Canyon South Rim.

This afternoon, we will bike along the Canyon rim on a road closed to public vehicle traffic. This scenic stretch of road features some of the best views along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Following our bike ride, we will settle in to our hotel in nearby Tusayan.

  • Day03

    Descend into the Grand Canyon

Enjoy a full day exploring Grand Canyon National Park. Descend into the canyon on a hike on the famed South Kaibab Trail. Along the way learn about the unique ecosystem, the deep Native American connection to the Canyon and the wonders of this special place. Expect sweeping views, ancient rocks, fossils, curious critters, and diverse plant life. Stop mid-day for a picnic lunch. Explore some of the historic buildings and scenic view points along the canyon rim in the afternoon.

  • Day04

    Kayak Lake Powell's Slot Canyons

We depart the Grand Canyon early this morning and have a scenic three hour drive to Page where we embark on our overnight kayaking trip on Lake Powell. The journey begins with a scenic boat ride to Padre Bay where we will begin kayaking. Spend the day exploring the remote slot canyons and coves of Lake Powell.

This evening we make camp amid the majestic scenery.

  • Day05

Lake Powell & Stargazing at Bryce Canyon

After a hearty camp breakfast, we will have another adventurous day of exploring Lake Powell by kayak. We return to the marina in early afternoon and head to our overnight accommodations near Bryce Canyon National Park. After dinner we are joined by an astronomer for a special stargazing experience. The Utah desert's predictable weather, low humidity and dark night skies make it the perfect location for viewing the Milky Way Galaxy, millions of stars, recognizable constellations and even some far off galaxies millions of light years away.

  • Day06

Horseback Ride in Bryce Canyon National Park & Hike to Emerald Pools

This morning, we descend into the natural amphitheater of Bryce Canyon National Park on horseback. Depart Sunrise Point and experience the Wall of Windows, The Chessmen, Silent City, and the Bristle Cone Pine Trees (some of the oldest living things on earth). Then we enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic overlook before we depart for Zion National Park. This afternoon, we hike the Emerald Pools Trail taking in the views of Red Arch Mountain, Lady Mountain and the colorful cliffs in every direction.

  • Day07

    Zion National Park

We start our day at Zion National Park with a canyoneering excursion which starts with a short hike followed by active exploration of some of the areas narrow slot canyons. Canyoneering involves a combination of hiking, rappelling, scrambling and possibly wading through canyon pools. Canyoneering is a perfect family bonding experience with interactive problem solving of natural canyon obstacles. Most routes offer more beauty than physical challenges making for a fun and rewarding adventure. This afternoon, we take a leisurely hike along the the Virgin River and cool off with a splash in the cool waters.

  • Day08

After breakfast we depart for Las Vegas to catch afternoon homebound flights.
