And there you have it – Andre’s ultimate packing list for your stuff sack while hiking the W-Route in Patagonia!

What to pack in the stuff sack our porters carry on Patagonia’s W-Route Trek

Travelers hiking on the W-Route Trek in Patagonia

From headlamps to electrolyte packs, our hiking guide for our Patagonia Hiking Adventures, Andre, provides tips & advice on a few key items to pack in your stuff sack to ensure a safe, fun hike on the W-Route Trek in Patagonia.

How much will I have to carry each day on the hike?

Just your trekking poles and your personal gear for the day (water bottle, jacket, rain gear and other personal items). For the two nights at the W-Route mountain lodges in Torres del Paine, porters will carry a stuff sack for you, with your additional clothing and toiletries. Your larger suitcases will be kept in secure storage until you conclude this trek portion.

How many stuff sacks does each traveler get?

Each traveler gets one stuff sack (“dry” bag) with capacity of 13 liters. Your private porters will be responsible for carrying the stuff sacks between each lodging for all in our group.

These stuff sacks should contain your additional clothing and toiletries, and perhaps a pair of slip-ons/sandals for shower and leisure time. Your luggage will be kept in secure storage until you arrive at Hotel Lago Grey.

Who are the porters on these tours?

For the two nights at the mountain lodges on Patagonia’s W-Route in Torres del Paine, we work with private porters that will carry a stuff sack for each guest, so that guests are able to hike with just their daypacks.
