Dear Friends at Mountain Travel Sobek –
We returned in late August from our MTS Australian Custom Journey for my wife May’s 50th birthday. Our trip was epic in so many ways, and we wanted to share our photo gallery and a few trip notes! Special kudos to our guide Tiff at Sal Salis on the Ningaloo Reef and to Calandra, our top-deck/VIP host on the Great Barrier Reef live aboard. She was AMAZING.
The Great Barrier Reef Encounter was awesome. We loved the sunrise snorkels and dives (thank you for sending the morning double-rainbow while we were out one morning :’) ). May’s moment of wonder was her up-close experience with the Hawkbill Giant Turtle on her first-ever dive on the GBR. I did my first ever night dive and, again, Calandra made the trip perfect.
We all especially loved Sal Salis on the Ningaloo Reef (North-West Australian Coast on the Indian Ocean). It was a once in a lifetime experience – we woke up at sunrise and took beautiful walks on beach, built sand castles, snorkeled, ate delicious food, swam with whale sharks, humpies, and saw a tiger shark (oh my!). Alex and Izzy (our twin 9 year-olds) especially loved swimming with the whale shark and humpies. Izzy swam right behind the whale shark for almost 100 meters and she has the video to prove it.
Thank you ALL so much. It was an amazing birthday present for May.
Thanks so much Jeffrey for sharing your amazing family adventure in Australia, and Happy Birthday to May!
